Preparing a working solution

Bring the vial to room temperature before opening — cold glass condenses moisture into the powder cake. Wipe the stopper with isopropyl alcohol, then add the diluent slowly down the inner wall of the vial rather than directly onto the powder.

GHK-Cu dissolves readily and produces a clear blue solution. Cloudiness, particulates or a colour shift toward green or brown indicate a problem with the material or the diluent — discard rather than use.

Concentration maths

Concentration is milligrams of peptide divided by millilitres of diluent. A 50 mg vial reconstituted with 5 ml gives 10 mg/ml; the same vial with 2 ml gives 25 mg/ml.

Choose the volume that makes your intended measurement volumes easy to draw accurately. Very high concentrations force very small draws, and small draws carry the largest relative error.

Diluent choice

Bacteriostatic water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol is standard for multi-draw vials. Sterile water without preservative is single-use. Avoid diluents that shift pH substantially — copper complexes are pH-sensitive and stability assumptions do not carry across buffers.

Records that make results readable

An unlabelled vial is unusable data. Record compound, batch, concentration, diluent and reconstitution date, and keep the batch analytical record alongside it.

  • Compound and batch number
  • Diluent type and volume added
  • Resulting concentration in mg/ml
  • Date and time of reconstitution
  • Storage location and temperature
