Recovery is not a product category. It is sleep, load management and time — with modalities as a small optional layer on top.
Sleep duration and timing
Established evidence
Joint professional guidance recommends seven or more hours of sleep per night for adults on a regular basis. Regular timing helps stabilise circadian rhythm, which is easier to control than duration on a busy schedule.
Training load
Clinical research
Adaptation depends on the balance of stress and recovery. Rapid increases in training load are consistently associated with higher injury rates in sports-medicine literature.
Modalities: where the evidence sits
Emerging research
Sauna, cold-water immersion, red light therapy and hyperbaric oxygen all have published human studies, but sample sizes, protocols and endpoints vary widely, and results are not consistent across trials.
Treat them as optional experiments with uncertain effect sizes, not as established interventions. We do not claim any of them treat, prevent or cure a medical condition.

More on recovery
Adaptation happens between sessions. Recovery is the part of the protocol most people optimise last and should optimise first.
